Upper Peninsula Inspired Skis

Da UP holds a special meaning to anyone who’s lived, visited, explored, or passed through. Get your Yooper on with this new release of the red/black buffalo plaid "Da Ski"! The graphic says it all; plaid, chainsaw, transparent areas to see the core, and of course - da UP, eh. What more could you need?

Four years ago, we released our first "Da Ski" graphic and it sold out in a month, so this time, don't miss out! Each ski model and length has a very limited amount of builds and when each is sold out - they're gone!

  • Limited Edition Plaid topsheet includes red/black buffalo plaid, a chainsaw, and da Upper Peninsula.
  • Clearview core graphic shows the hardwood core through the red middle section of the skis.
  • 1 of 75 to ever be built! Each model/length quantity is already set, some combinations only have 2 pair available.
  • Available on Ahmeek 95/105/115 to suit your unique skiing style.
Construction

Proudly Made in USA

Core

Laminated ash/poplar hardwood: Long grain premium white ash and tulip poplar is hand-selected and cut into full-length strips. Strips are individually flex indexed and laminated together symmetrically. Each laminated core is CNC milled to a precise thickness profile developed for each model and length.

Composites

Unidirectional carbon fiber strips along the core, lightweight triaxial fiberglass above and beneath the core, fiberglass binding mat underfoot. Rubber bonding strips placed along edges, sidewalls, and ends for rock-solid bonding.

Sidewall

Full-height urethane - bombproof and double-chamfered for reduced swing weight. A rounded mini-cap top edge rolls over the sidewall to protect your topsheets.

Topsheet

Clearview gloss nylon with sublimated graphics and transparent windows to the core of the ski.

Base + Edge

1.4 mm CNC knife-cut 4001 Race Grade Durasurf sintered UHMW. 2.2 mm oversized and heat-treated edges take a beating.

Ski FAQ

What snow conditions are they made for?

Are they right for me?
The limited edition plaid Da Ski ski graphic is available on our best selling Ahmeek 95/Ahmeek 105/Ahmeek 115 ski models. If you're unsure about which model is right for you, just give us a call at 231-459-4323 or email mail@skishaggys.com for help!

What length should I get?
Each model in our ski line has unique characteristics - please visit each individual ski model page for more info or contact us.

What bindings should I get?
You can use any binding on these limited edition skis. The binding brake width must be at least as wide as the waist width of your selected ski model. For example, the Ahmeek 105s require a brake width is at least 105mm wide. We run Marker Griffon bindings on our demo skis. Visit your local ski shop for bindings and mounting.

What are Camber Pockets?
Camber Pockets are additional small sections of camber (about 4 in long and 0.030" tall) molded into the overall camber of the ski in front of and behind your midsole position. They increase contact pressure to improve grip on hardpack and ice.

Are they tuned and waxed?
Skis come tuned with a 1° base edge bevel and a 2° side edge bevel and a slight tip/tail detune. The skis are waxed with a universal temperature wax to get you going.

Been skiing the Ahmeek 105 in 186cm since March of ‘24. Ran these first in Michigan at Crystal Mountain on a weekday after a bit of spring melt. Pleasantly surprised by the edge grip on all their selection of runs.
Brought these west to Breckenridge for first week of April spring break skiing as the alternative to my beloved Fat-ypus Desenders, 112 waist in 194cm, which have been my everyday west skis. The Ahmeeks are up for the task. With a thinner height these are ready to rotate on edge and carve. They also give float for a couple inches to half a foot of fresh snow.
Running these in January’25 as the go to set at Keystone, Vail, Breck and Crested Butte. Work for carving groomed blues and blacks, bumping, side stalk, steeps, and everything they encounter. Only one day in the last dozen was spent on another ski set when it snowed 6”-8” and my 125 waist powder boards were tasked.

Ahmeek Update

I bought my first pair of Shaggy Ahmeeks 8 years ago. It’s been my go to ski ever since. After 200 days on the ski I figured it was time for the upgrade. Unlike my first pair which I customized the ski, I went with one of the stock CU models for the added “steeze”. Right out of the box, the skis exceeded my expectations. Same great ski only a little bit better. It rails on hard pack; plows through the crud; floats in the freshies; and slices through the ice. The most versatile ski anything ski I have ridden. The new Ahmeek really rewards you when you stay centered over the ski. It becomes a rocket ship. Ive said this before - Buy your skis from a local ski company that knows and loves skiing. Avoid those big name conglomerates with their corporate boards that don’t understand what skiing is. Life is short, get a pair of Ahmeeks and enjoy the ride!
