Ahmeek 105

Details

The Ahmeek 105 is made for skiers who want to explore every aspect of the mountain. The balanced flex perfectly blends power and playfulness, providing maximum versatility. Don’t hesitate to lean it over and let it rip on groomers, as it features best-in-class edge hold. When the snow is soft, the rockered tips and tails make for a lively ride, allowing you to float over powder and weave through trees effortlessly. Put it all together, and the Ahmeek 105 can handle just about anything Mother Nature can throw at it.

Features

  • Tip and tail rocker maximize flotation in powder and bust through crud.
  • Full twintip tail allows the Ahmeek 105 to maneuver easily in the tightest trees.
  • Camber Pockets molded within the overall camber triple the turn initiation contact points for maximum edge grip on hardpack.
  • Hybrid MidLight construction combines ash and poplar hardwoods with carbon fiber and lightweight triaxial fiberglass for weight reduction without sacrificing pop and energy.
  • Balanced flex allows skiers to charge groomers and big terrain, yet have enough flex in the tip and tail to remain playful across the mountain and float through powder.
  • Rounded mini-cap top edge with full-height urethane sidewalls are bombproof and provide a sleek look.

Don't just take our word for it

The Ahmeek 105 could arguably be in this section (All-Mountain More Forgiving), our More Stable All-Mountain section, or even our All-Mountain Freestyle one. That’s because it’s a damp, pretty stable, and playful ski that offers an excellent blend of firm- and soft-snow performance. Its “camber pockets” in front of and behind the bindings lead to above-average edge hold for a ski this wide. Coupled with its fat, soft tips, that makes the Ahmeek an excellent carver, while its fairly deep tip / tail rocker lines also make it feel maneuverable in tight terrain.

Common Questions

What length should I get?

The Ahmeek 105 has tip rocker and a full twin tail. If you are between lengths, size up for a more stable ride, size down for more maneuverability. Check out our size chart for more info.

What bindings should I get?

You can use any binding on the Ahmeek 105 as long as the brake width is at least 105 mm wide. We run Marker Griffon bindings on our demo skis. Visit your local ski shop for bindings and mounting.

Are they tuned and waxed?

Skis come tuned with a 1° base edge bevel and a 2° side edge bevel and a slight tip/tail detune. The skis are waxed with a universal temperature wax to get you going.

Premium Materials

Core
Laminated ash/poplar hardwood: Long grain premium white ash and tulip poplar is hand selected and cut into full-length strips. Strips are individually flex indexed and laminated together symmetrically. Each laminated core is CNC milled to a precise thickness profile developed for each model and length.

Composites
Unidirectional carbon fiber strips below the core, lightweight triaxial fiberglass below the core, fiberglass binding mat underfoot. Rubber bonding strips placed along edges, sidewalls, and ends for rock-solid bonding.

Bio-Based Epoxy
Entropy Super Sap® epoxy contains 28% bio-based content and is specifically designed for skis. It's formulated for high strength and impact resistance, which creates a durable, tough, and lightweight composite.

Sidewalls
Full-height urethane - bombproof and double chamfered for reduced swing weight. A rounded mini-cap top edge rolls over the sidewall to protect your topsheets.

Topsheet
Clearview nylon with sublimated graphics and transparent windows to the wood core.

Base + Edge
1.4 mm CNC knife-cut 4001 Race Grade Durasurf sintered UHMW. 2.2 mm oversized and heat-treated edges take a beating.

Want to love them, most likely going to sell them

I read all the reviews and talked to Shaggy’s a few times prior to buying. After the research, I thought these would be the skis I used for many years to come. After skiing them 3 days in Alaska, I’m very on the fence regarding keeping them. Only thing holding me back is the cash I have into them and the awesomeness of how they look. I have Ahmeek 105’s, 180 cm in length.

Here’s the details: I’m 6’1”, 180 lb, advanced skier. Pow days on advanced to expert is what I’m at home at. I ski 25+ days a year from the Midwest to the Rockies. My daily drivers are Elan Ripstick 88’s, which I absolutely love.

I expected them to take a few days to get used to compared to my other skis, but the Ahmeek’s are still difficult to turn and feel like they have bricks tied to them. They are fun in powder, however still difficult to maneuver. Sizing down from 180 cm might have been a better option. How much better, hard to say though.

It took me a month to write this review as I really want to love the Ahmeek skis. I failed to compare the detailed specs and see how heavy they are compared to my Elan’s. That’s on me. I’ll give the Ahmeek’s a few more pow days before I sell them and will update the review if I discover something that changes my views around.

Some positive items to note: Shaggy’s customer service is excellent, skis are extremely well build and of high quality, and the graphics offerings and customization is awesome.

West Daily Driver

Been skiing the Ahmeek 105 in 186cm since March of ‘24. Ran these first in Michigan at Crystal Mountain on a weekday after a bit of spring melt. Pleasantly surprised by the edge grip on all their selection of runs.
Brought these west to Breckenridge for first week of April spring break skiing as the alternative to my beloved Fat-ypus Desenders, 112 waist in 194cm, which have been my everyday west skis. The Ahmeeks are up for the task. With a thinner height these are ready to rotate on edge and carve. They also give float for a couple inches to half a foot of fresh snow.
Running these in January’25 as the go to set at Keystone, Vail, Breck and Crested Butte. Work for carving groomed blues and blacks, bumping, side stalk, steeps, and everything they encounter. Only one day in the last dozen was spent on another ski set when it snowed 6”-8” and my 125 waist powder boards were tasked.

Ahmeek Update

I bought my first pair of Shaggy Ahmeeks 8 years ago. It’s been my go to ski ever since. After 200 days on the ski I figured it was time for the upgrade. Unlike my first pair which I customized the ski, I went with one of the stock CU models for the added “steeze”. Right out of the box, the skis exceeded my expectations. Same great ski only a little bit better. It rails on hard pack; plows through the crud; floats in the freshies; and slices through the ice. The most versatile ski anything ski I have ridden. The new Ahmeek really rewards you when you stay centered over the ski. It becomes a rocket ship. Ive said this before - Buy your skis from a local ski company that knows and loves skiing. Avoid those big name conglomerates with their corporate boards that don’t understand what skiing is. Life is short, get a pair of Ahmeeks and enjoy the ride!
